Reading note01 / 03

Autonomous mobility could change commuting without simply replacing one vehicle with another. Shared services, altered travel times and different patterns of access may change how much road space, parking and energy the system needs.

The useful planning question is not how many autonomous cars might exist. It is how travel behaviour, fleet utilisation, charging and land use interact across a day, a season and a region.

Demand forecasts that can move from annual totals to hourly, climate-aware profiles are essential when mobility becomes part of the energy system rather than a separate transport assumption.
