Energy Modelling

We build and extend models that connect generation, demand, storage, networks and molecules across countries and time. The aim is not a larger model. It is a clearer decision.

The planning question

What changes when every carrier, constraint and weather year is allowed to interact?

TerraJoule works across electricity, hydrogen, methane and synthetic fuels, from continental systems to individual nodes. We structure the scenario, assemble the data, build or adapt the model, and follow the result back to the physical constraint that produced it.

Every result is conditional. We label the scenario, document the data lineage and test sensitivities before treating an output as evidence. When the model cannot resolve an uncertainty, we make that limit visible.

Experience

Built inside real analytical workflows.

01

Integrated model architecture

Our modelling work links generators, demand, storage, transmission, pipelines, imports, conversion technologies and emissions. That system view matters when a decision in one carrier moves cost, scarcity or flexibility somewhere else.

02

Scenario and climate structure

We have organised multi-horizon model inputs around scenario assumptions, climate samples and external data files, including work spanning 2030 to 2050. The structure keeps the baseline reproducible while allowing new cases to be tested.

03

Build, update and assurance

Our teams work with PLEXOS-based European models, structured data pipelines and cross-sector planning environments. We check object relationships, temporal coverage, units, missing inputs and result consistency before a run enters a decision process.

04

Demand forecasting

We take annual demand from ETM scenarios or historical ENTSO-E load, disaggregate it from country and sector totals to nodes and individual assets across every sub-sector, then shape it into hourly profiles. Climate and weather inputs capture heating, cooling, appliances, transport, industrial processes and other end uses across electricity, hydrogen and heat, producing validated 8,760-hour profiles in model-ready formats.

How we work

A controlled path from question to result.

  1. 01Frame the decision

Agree the scope, geography, horizon, planning question and acceptance test.

  2. 02Map the system

Identify the carriers, assets, data sources and interfaces that can change the answer.

  3. 03Build the case

Create or extend the model with traceable assumptions and controlled versions.

  4. 04Test the result

Run sensitivities, reconcile anomalies and explain the decisive constraints.

What the team receives

Useful after the presentation ends.

  1. 01Model and data architecture with clear system boundaries
  2. 02Scenario definitions, source register and assumption log
  3. 03Validated model inputs, run configuration and quality checks
  4. 04Results, sensitivities and a concise decision note

Partnerships & consortiums

The strongest work has more than one perspective.

We are open to partnerships and consortiums with system operators, public bodies, research organisations, infrastructure developers and technology teams.
